At the Helm­holtz Insti­tute Freiberg for Resource Tech­no­logy (HIF), innov­at­ive tech­no­lo­gies for the cir­cu­lare­conomy are developed to provide and use min­eral and metal-bear­ing raw­ma­ter­i­als more effi­ciently and to recycle them in an envir­on­ment­ally friendly way.

As part of the Insti­tute, the Depart­ment of Explor­a­tion invites applic­a­tions as Postdoc (f/m/d) Devel­op­ing approaches at the inter­sec­tion between remote sens­ing, deep learn­ing, and social sci­ences.

The pos­i­tion will be avail­able from 1 Novem­ber 2022. The employ­ment con­tract is lim­ited to two years.

Postdoc (f/m/d) Devel­op­ing approaches at the inter­sec­tion between remote sens­ing, deep learn­ing, and social sci­ences

Working field:

  • Devel­op­ing approaches at the inter­sec­tion between remote sens­ing, deep learn­ing, and social sci­ences
  • Text min­ing and inform­a­tion extrac­tion from sociodemo­graph­ics indic­at­ors and using them in com­bin­a­tion with remote sens­ing and spa­tial data
  • Pub­lish­ing res­ults in inter­na­tional peer-reviewed journ­als and par­ti­cip­at­ing in inter­na­tional con­fer­ences

Requirements:

  • PhD degree in Com­puter or Elec­trical Engin­eer­ing, Remote Sens­ing, Social Sci­ences, Deep Learn­ing, Com­puter Vsion or related fields
  • Exper­i­ence in text min­ing and inform­a­tion extrac­tion
  • Exper­i­ence in inform­a­tion fusion
  • Very good Eng­lish lan­guage skills (both writ­ten and spoken)
  • Abil­ity to work in an inter­na­tional con­text and will­ing­ness to work as a team
