Das Leibniz-Institut für Agrartechnik und Bioökonomie e. V. (ATB) ist Pionier und Treiber der Bioökonomieforschung. Scientist (m/f/d) (75%)
- Agronomist -

Subject to the approval of funds, as part of the EU project "Fostering cross-border knowledge exchange and co-creation on sustainable soil and farm management (Soil-X-Change)” the following position is to be filled as of January 1st, 2024.

Working field:

The objective of the collaborative project is to help to connect farmers, actors, policy makers, projects, and initiatives to speed up innovation and promote faster, wider co-creation and transposition of innovative solutions on sustainable soil and farm management into practice. Soil-X-Change, initiated by EIP-AGRI Operational Group practitioners (OGs), will enhance and exchange the knowledge of the main actors. It will collect, combine, harmonise, analyse and integrate the results and data products developed by the different EIP-AGRI OGs and the project partners and disseminate and share innovative practices across 9 member countries. Furthermore, Soil-X-Change will bring together EIP OGs and key stakeholders working on sustainable soil and farm management to create an EU-wide network, share knowledge, and introduce ready-to-use practices that will enable farmers to make the right decisions related to agricultural production practices.
In addition to supporting the other work packages, the main responsibility of the ATB work package will be to collect, analyse and present ready-to-use farming methods and develop adaptation pathways to facilitate their outscaling to farmer’s needs of other regions and EU countries.

Your responsibilities
  • Independent and autonomous research activity on innovative methods of sustainable soil and farm management in the EU
  • Establishment and maintenance of a pan-European network of agricultural stakeholders
  • Collect the needs and barriers of farmers and practitioners to apply methods of sustainable soil and farm management
  • Development of guidelines to adapt these methods to specific circumstances in other regions and EU countries
  • Organisation of stakeholder workshops and presentation of project results
  • Publication of results in scientific and practice-oriented journals

Requirements:

Your qualification profile
  • Very good master degree in the field of agronomy or related subjects
  • Knowledge and experience or willingness to become familiar with methods of sustainable soil and farm management
  • Willingness to get in contact with agricultural stakeholders (authorities, farmers, service providers, policy makers, scientists) of different European countries
  • Experience with stakeholder interviews desirable
  • Knowledge and experience in writing articles for both, scientific and practice-oriented journals
  • Very good written and spoken English skills, knowledge of another European language is of advantage
  • Independent work, personal commitment, reliability, flexibility as well as the ability to work in a team and willingness to cooperate are required
  • Willingness to travel into other EU countries
  • Confident use of MS Office programs
  • European driving license class B

How to apply:

The position is part-time (75%) and limited to three years. The salary depends on your qualifications and professional experience according to TV-L up to salary group 13.
