Tasks
The position is part of the sociological research project “Embracing Capital – Normative and Legal changes towards a capitalization of ownership in companies”. This project pursues the goal of analyzing a structural change in corporate ownership from the beginning of the Federal Republic of Germany until today (1949-2024). The research is guided by the basic assumption that ownership of companies is increasingly organized through corporations, which is referred to as “capitalization”. In order to better understand this structural change, three structural levels are examined in more detail: What shifts in company law can be identified with regard to corporations? To what extent are capital owners normatively contested as subjects of corporate ownership? In what way and to what extent have corporations spread? The project is led by Prof. Dr. Isabell Stamm and is part of the SfB Transregio 294 “Structural Change of Ownership”.
Tasks:
- Take on research tasks in the project “Embracing Capital” with a focus on the normative level.
- Compile and analyze a text corpus from parliamentary debates and another from newspaper articles on corporate owners.
- Present your findings at meetings and conferences and write scientific publications.
- Support the research team in compiling a genealogy of corporate la was well as in the write up of a review article.
- This project offers the opportunity for a doctorate
Requirements
- Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in sociology or social sciences
- Experience in empirical social research
- Willingness to participate regularly in events at the University of Jena
- Confident handling of MS Office
- Very good written and spoken German
- Good knowledge of English written and spoken or willingness to acquire the missing language skills
Desirable Qualifications:
- Strong interest in the economic sociology and the sociology of law
- High social competence
- Communicative skills
- Knowledge of content analysis (qualitative/quantitative)
- Knowledge of computational methods
- Experience in the preparation of scientific publications
