The Chair of "Machine Learning and Security" conducts research on the intersection of security and artificial intelligence (Al). It develops novel approaches for protecting learning systems and defending against attacks and malicious software. The chair is part of the BIFOLD Al competence center in Berlin.

We are looking for a research associate to take on a leading role in the ERC-funded research project MALFOY. The project explores the connection between offensive security and machine learning, with the goal of developing both novel attacks and effective defense strategies. This position is intended to bridge these challenging areas and enable independent, high-quality research.

Your responsibility

  • Research on machine learning and offensive security
  • Development of attacks with/against learning algorithms
  • Development of new defense mechanisms
  • Management tasks within the project MALFOY
  • Independent and self-driven research

Your profile

  • Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diploma or equivalent) and doctoral degree in Computer Science or in a related area.
  • Strong expertise in machine learning and/or computer security.
  • Publications in leading conferences/journals (A*/A)
  • Experience in the coordination of research projects
  • A good knowledge of German and/or English is required and a willingness to acquire any missing language skills
  • Experience in coordinating research projects
