Tasks

The main tasks of the candidate involve academic responsibilities in the didactics of programming in the Bachelor of Computer Science. They are responsible for curriculum development and the didactic implementation of the compulsory module Programming Project (Praktikum), as well as for its coordination with the other compulsory modules in the Bachelor of Computer Science:
Fundamentals of Programming, Programming Paradigms, Software Engineering. The candidate offers ongoing advanced training to qualify instructors in the module and provides supervision. Due to the dynamics in the field of software development, the didactic framework and procedures of the module must be continuously adapted. New developments such as Al-based tools must be considered and integrated into the curriculum to ensure state-of-the-art education. The candidate conducts accompanying research to evaluate the effectiveness of the methods of instruction. Part of the candidate's duties are the training and supervision of student employees and research assistants.

Candidates are expected to:

  • hold curricular responsibility of the compulsory module Programming Project (Praktikum)
  • train and supervise the instructors involved in the module
  • coordinate and train tutors in the programming courses of the Bachelor of Computer Science
  • teach in the module
  • coordinate programming training in computer science related programs, e.g. MINTgrün
  • conduct accompanying research for the module

Requirements

  • Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) and PhD in computer science, physics, mathematics, engineering or related disciplines
  • Comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of the didactics of programming
  • In-depth knowledge of software development
  • Proven interpersonal skills
  • After completing the university degree, at least three years of academic or professional-practical work in a full-time employment relationship.
  • The ability to teach in German and/or in English is required; willingness to acquire the respective missing language skills.
  • Strong organizational and teamwork skills as well as social skills and intercultural competence advantageous
  • High level of motivation and independence is an advantage
  • Experience in independent, interdisciplinary teaching, excellent didactic and pedagogical skills, experience in instructing experienced individuals are desired
  • Relevant knowledge of university structures and organization, especially in the area of studies and teaching are desirable
  • Convincing appearance at a high professional and personal level is an advantageous
