About us
The Collaborative Research Centre (CRC) 1265 “Re-Figuration of Spaces”, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) at Technische Universität Berlin since 2018, investigates the transformation of socio-spatial orders observable since the late 1960s. The position is located in subproject A07 ‘Natural spaces: conflicts over botanical knowledge using the example of (trans)atlantic forests’.
Your responsibility
- Planning and conducting a multi-sited and participatory ethnography in Brazil
- Document analysis
- Coordinating project work in connection with the CRC together with a student assistant in consultation with the project management;
- Collaborating on lectures, publications, events;
- Establishing and maintaining international collaborations;
- Publication of research results in scientific publications and at conferences
- Independent research on the project topic
- Collaboration in project management, organisation and planning
- Collaboration with other members of SFB 1265
Your profile
- Successfully completed academic university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in Sociology, Anthropology, Geography or any related disciplines
- Methodological knowledge in the field of qualitative social research, participant observation, ethnography
- Very good knowledge of Portuguese and English
- Prior knowledge in the fields of spatial research, political ecology and conservation studies desirable
- Interest in visual mapping methods is advantageous
- Experience in field research, preferably also outside Western industrialised countries desirable
- Competence in indigenous South American languages (especially Guarani) desirable
- Experience with interdisciplinary research work in a project context desirable
