About us
The Chair for Materials for Additive Manufacturing at TU Berlin is dedicated to teaching and research in the field of additive manufacturing. The focus lies on the fundamental scientific understanding and its link to industrial applications. Experimental methods of material synthesis using additive manufacturing processes as well as simulation and Al approaches are used and taught.
Your responsibility
The project is part of the DaMic priority program (SPP2489) and deals with the investigation of process-microstructure-property relationships in recycling-tolerant, additively manufactured austenitic steels. The main scientific tasks for the advertised position include the thermodynamic calculation of the phases that occur and the comprehensive microstructural and mechanical characterization of the additively manufactured samples. This will be used to generate input values for mechanical simulation and optimization of the alloy using inverse design. The aim is to understand the influence of scrap use and impurities on the microstructure and mechanical properties.
Your profile
- You have a completed scientific university degree (Master's diploma or equivalent) in materials engineering, materials science or mechanical engineering with a specialization in materials science, which you have completed with above-average success.
- You have sound knowledge in the field of metallic materials.
- You have knowledge in the fields of programming and materials simulation.
- You have experience in the structural characterisation of metallic materials.
- Good knowledge of German and/or English is required; willingness to acquire the respective missing language skills.
- You would like to work on challenging research topics as part of scientific research projects (is desirable).
- You are able to perform scientific work in an independent manner, creativity and flexibility inherent and you are a team player (is desirable).
