Your responsibility
- Development and implementation of laser absorption spectroscopy diagnostics for rotating detonation combustors
- Investigation of optical access concepts and integration of laser-optical systems into RDC combustion facilities
- Design, execution, and evaluation of experimental campaigns under a range of operating conditions
- Development of data acquisition, signal processing, and post-processing tools for quantitative analysis of laser diagnostic measurements
- Quantitative measurements of H₂O concentration and gas temperature within the combustor
- Assessment of measurement uncertainties and diagnostic performance in highly transient reacting flows
- Generation of reference datasets characterizing combustor operating conditions and combustion processes
- Close collaboration with international project partners at KAUST in the preparation and implementation of advanced multi-parameter diagnostic techniques for RDC applications
- Support of future experimental campaigns through the provision of baseline measurements, diagnostic infrastructure, and characterization of operating conditions
Your profile
- Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) and PhD in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, combustion science, or a related field
- Strong background in experimental fluid mechanics, combustion diagnostics, optical measurement techniques, or related areas
- Experience with laser absorption spectroscopy (LAS), tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS), or related laser-based diagnostics is highly desirable
- Experience in the design, execution, and analysis of laboratory experiments
- Proficiency in scientific programming and data analysis using Python, MATLAB, or similar tools
- Knowledge of combustion processes and reacting flows
- Ability to work independently and lead experimental research activities desirable
- Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills desirable
- Experience working in interdisciplinary and international research environments is advantageous
- Good knowledge of German and/or English required; willingness to acquire the respective missing language skills
