Research assistant

Your responsibility
- Contribution to the DFG project "Sensor-integrating elastomer bearing (SiEla) with combined sensor-generator-system" within DFG-SPP 2305
- Design and embedded implementation of an energy- and compute-adaptive signal-processing framework for embedded microcontrollers (e.g., STM32, embedded C)
- Realization of wireless data transfer (e.g., Bluetooth/Zigbee) as well as firmware-update capability incl. cyber security
- Close interdisciplinary coordination with project partner Mechatronic Systems Laboratory (Prof. Maas)
- Contribution to building, commissioning, and experimentally validating the system prototype
- Implementation of quality-assured and documented program code
- Publication of scientific results in international journals and at conferences
- Supervision of student theses within the project scope
Your profile
- Successfully completed scientific university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in engineering sciences (mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, or comparable), applied mathematics, or physics
- Proven practical experience in embedded software development (C/C++) on microcontrollers (e.g., STM32 / ARM Cortex-M)
- Solid theoretical knowledge of vibration theory, structural dynamics, or signal analysis (e.g., through degree focus or thesis)
- Good programming experience in Python as well as with Git-based version control
- Practical experience with laboratory measurement equipment, development environments (e.g., dSPACE), or experimental test-rig setup
- Independent, structured, and results-oriented way of working desirable
- Strong teamwork skills for close, ongoing collaboration with the partner group (Mechatronic Systems Laboratory) desirable
- Very good German and English language skills, written and spoken
- Experience with wireless communication protocols (e.g., Bluetooth, Zigbee) and firmware-update mechanisms desirable
