Research assistant - 1st qualification period (PhD candidate)

Your responsibility
- Research and education in innovative battery-electric drive concepts, with a focus on new cell chemistries, battery formats, electric machines, gearbox designs, as well as their thermal management and safety concepts
- Planning and execution of research projects
- The research includes experimental and simulation-based studies. Based on personal interests/competencies and the nature of the project the focus can be adjusted
- Model-based investigations vary in abstraction level (0D, 1D, 3D) depending on the project and can be conducted using tools such as MATLAB Simulink, GT-SUITE/GT-AutoLion, COMSOL Multiphysics, Ansys Fluent, Siemens StarCCM+, or E-Machine Design
- Publication of scientific results in international peer-reviewed journals and presentation at scientific conferences
- Supervision of student theses and project work
- Preparation and conduction of practical exercise
- Review and correction of homework assignments and written exams
Your profile
- Successfully completed university degree in engineering (Master, Diplom or equivalent).
- Ability to teach in German and/or English; willingness to acquire any missing language skills
- Independent, proactive, and team-oriented working style with strong communication skills desirable
- Experience in one or both of the following areas:
- 1. Simulation of electric drives and energy systems using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, Simscape, GT-SUITE / GT-AutoLion, Star-CCM+, or Siemens E-Machine Design
- 2. Experimental investigations in battery technology, power electronics, or electric machines. - Experience with CAD design software (e.g., Siemens NX, SolidWorks) is desirable
- Experience with measurement and data analysis tools (e.g., INCA, LabVIEW, Excel, Uniplot, MATLAB) is desirable
