Your responsibility

  • Research and education in the field of innovative, future-oriented engine concepts for highly efficient and low-emission conversion of sustainable energy carriers, such as (but not limited to) hydrogen, methanol, and ammonia
  • Planning and execution of research projects
  • The research includes experimental and simulation-based studies. Based on personal interests/competencies and the nature of the project the focus can be adjusted.
    - Experimental work includes investigations on fuel injection systems, combustion chambers, single-cylinder research engines, and multi-cylinder production engines
    - Model-based investigations vary in their level of abstraction (0D, 1D, and 3D) depending on the project and are typically conducted using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, Cantera, GT-Power, Star-CCM+, or CONVERGE
  • Publication of scientific results in international peer-reviewed journals and presentation at scientific conferences
  • Supervision of student theses and projects
  • Preparation and conduction of tutorials and practical exercise
  • Review and correction of homework assignments and written exams

Your profile

  • Successfully completed university degree in engineering (Master, Diplom or equivalent)
  • Ability to teach in German and/or English; willingness to acquire any missing language skills
  • Independent, proactive, and team-oriented working style with strong communication skills
  • Experience in at least two of the following areas:
  1. Experimental work on powertrain and engine test benches
  2. Modelling and simulation (0D, 1D, 3D)
  3. Thermodynamics, process engineering, or chemistry
  4. Measurement and control engineering
  5. Electrical engineering
  • Knowledge of vehicle technology and sustainable vehicle powertrains (internal combustion engines, battery-electric powertrains, fuel cell drives) is desirable
  • Experience with CAD tools (e.g., Siemens NX, SolidWorks) is a plus
  • Experience with measurement and data analysis tools (e.g., INCA, LabVIEW, Excel, Uniplot, MATLAB) is desirable
