Research assistant - salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen

Working field:

  • research in the field of simulation using finite-element-method for machining high lightweight materials
  • the field of activity ranges from basic research to application-oriented research
  • the project content addresses in particular the modeling of machining with geometrically defined cutting edge
  • in addition to operational work, the tasks also include the coordination of further research tasks, communication with project partners and the presentation of results at milestone and final meetings and at international conferences

Requirements:

  • successfully completed scientific university studies (Diplom, Master or equivalent) in mechanical engineering or related engineering sciences
  • extensive knowledge of production engineering, materials science and metrology technology
  • profound simulation knowledge in the field of machining and/or structural mechanics or fluid dynamics desirable
  • practice-related understanding with the use of commercial simulation software required
  • application-orientated expertise regarding machining as well as cutting tool and process development
  • basic knowledge of programming and scripting languages such as Python
  • experience in the field of experimental design and the operation of CNC machine tools as well as mechanical test procedures
  • experience in project management
  • remarkable, proven communication skills
  • willingness to work scientifically in a committed team with the purpose of a doctoral promotion indispensable
  • independent, systematic and structured working method
  • advanced skills in written and spoken English, German at least C1
