star­ting as soon as pos­si­ble. The posi­tion is limi­ted until Decem­ber 31, 2025. The period of employ­ment is gover­ned by § 2 (2) Fixed Term Rese­arch Con­tracts Act (Wis­sen­schafts­zeit­ver­trags­ge­setz – WissZeitVG).

Working field:

We seek app­li­ca­ti­ons for a post­doc­to­ral posi­tion in the design of resi­li­ent para­digms for the future quan­tum-clas­si­cal Inter­net. The pro­ject "Resi­li­ence for the Quan­tum Inter­net - Q-TREX" aims to make quan­tum com­mu­ni­ca­tion in rese­arch and indus­try usable for public com­mu­ni­ca­tion net­works by inte­gra­ting quan­tum com­mu­ni­ca­tion into future 6G net­works and exis­ting fixed net­works. The focus is on the inves­ti­ga­tion, design and rea­li­za­tion of an inte­gra­ted end-to-end resi­li­ence for the future quan­tum-clas­si­cal Inter­net. Inves­ti­ga­ting the fail­u­res and unavai­la­bi­li­ties of the quan­tum soft­ware resour­ces of the end-to-end net­work. The soft­ware ele­ments may include ope­ra­ti­ons, func­tio­n­a­li­ties, and pro­to­cols of dif­fe­rent lay­ers of the pro­to­col stack from the link layer to the app­li­ca­tion layer. Quan­tum sys­tem devia­ti­ons will be ana­ly­zed in terms of faulty ope­ra­ti­ons or com­plete unavai­la­bi­lity. Next, ana­ly­sis of the end-to-end sys­tem when mul­ti­ple soft­ware faults occur simul­ta­ne­ously.

Requirements:

uni­ver­sity and PhD degree in phy­sics, mathe­ma­tics, com­pu­ter sci­ence or equi­va­lent. Know­ledge of quan­tum mecha­nics and focus on expe­ri­men­tal phy­sics is also an important metric. Can­di­da­tes should be pro­fi­ci­ent in Eng­lish and have good oral and writ­ten com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills. Strong pro­gramming skills are highly recom­men­ded.
