Research Assistant – 0.67 working time – salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen

Working field:

Participation in research project (ZnH2 PSP: 1-3001730-01-EF) funded by BMBF on development of noble-metal free bifunctional catalysts for Hydrogen Evolution Reaction (HER) as well as Oxygen Evolution Reduction (OER), precisely for application in an electrical rechargeable galvanic hydrogen storage system.
Therefore, the developed catalyst materials are characterized using different electrochemical methods as well as X-Ray and UV-Vis spectroscopy, and the results are to be published in scientific journals.

Requirements:

  • Successfully completed university degree in Chemistry with focus in Electrochemistry (Master, Diplom or equivalent)
  • Expertise in construction and analysis of metal electrodes applied in energy storage systems (Al, Mg, Zn)
  • Prior practice in the field of electrochemical characterization methods (LSV, CV, EIS, Chromopotentiometry) required
  • Practical knowledge of structural characterization methods, especially XRD, UV-Vis, FTIR, BET, SEM, TEM desirable
  • Practical experience with battery test systems by BioLogic and associated testing techniques (GITT, GCPL) desirable
  • Prior practical experience with Glovebox is advantageous
  • Experience with publicly funded collaborative projects and with project management very much desired
  • Native English and German communication skills, willingness to learn either English or German is expected
  • The position is suited for a self-driven individual who can conduct demanding research projects independently
