The department "Intelligent Systems" under the direction of Prof. Dr. Marc Toussaint is looking for a research assistant in the context of a cooperation project with Amazon Robotics. The project investi-gates the application of optimization, learning and robotics methods for planning highly efficient ob-ject manipulation by robots, and offers a very interesting research environment in cooperation with Amazon Robotics. The position offers the opportunity to pursue a PhD in this topic.
The department researches and teaches in the area of AI and robotics. In particular, the research group develops methods that combine AI planning, machine learning, and optimization to solve fun-damental problems in robotics and AI. The department is part of the Cluster of Excellence Science of Intelligence and the ELLIS network.

Working field:

  • Research in the Meta-Optimization project in cooperation with Amazon Robotics.
  • Supervision of student assistants and theses in the project topic.

Requirements:

  • Successfully completed university studies (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in computer science or a similar technical subject.
  • In-depth knowledge of robotics motion planning, robotics manipulation, and optimization methods.
  • Programming experience in the context of the aforementioned methods.
  • Very good command of English.
