Research Associate / Safety Officer (m/f/x)

The Cluster of Excellence “Physics of Life” (PoL) offers, subject to the availability of resources, a position as

Research Associate / Safety Officer (m/f/x)
(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

starting as soon as possible. The position is limited until December 31, 2027. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification (usually PhD).

Working field:

Together with the researchers at PoL, you develop, maintain and oversee the safety plans of the research groups. This includes the design of protocols and strategies for the management of biological experiments and the handling of genetically modified organisms, the development and implementation of measures for quality assurance of biological safety, and the overseeing of the required documentation. In your role, you will advise researchers on the principles, methodology and standards of genetic engineering and biological safety, from research design to archiving. In addition, you will support the coordination of the genetic safety areas at PoL, e.g. the cell culture and aquatics facilities, including assisting in the preparation of biological safety documentation and licenses.

Requirements:

  • university degree in biology, medicine, physics or a comparable subject
  • at least 3 years of professional experience in research
  • knowledge in the field of biophysics and molecular biology as well as experience in an interdisciplinary environment and project management are desired
  • qualification as GenTSV- project leader or biological safety officer is beneficial
  • strong communication skills in German and English, excellent organizational skills
