The Insti­tute for Ion Beam Phys­ics and Mater­i­als Research is ded­ic­ated to the study of mater­i­als and their nano­struc­tures that can be con­sidered for future applic­a­tions in inform­a­tion tech­no­logy and are based on elec­trical, mag­netic or optical func­tion­al­it­ies.

The Ion Beam Cen­ter (IBC) is look­ing for a

Postdoc (f/m/d) Accel­er­ator Based Neut­ron Source

The pos­i­tion will be avail­able at the earli­est pos­sible date. The employ­ment con­tract is lim­ited to two years.

Working field:

  • Plan­ning and imple­ment­a­tion of a beam­line and tar­get cham­ber for an accel­er­ator-based neut­ron source at the IBC in the frame of the pro­ject HiActs
  • Plan­ning and imple­ment­a­tion of exper­i­mental setups with neut­ron beams at the IBC
  • Col­lab­or­a­tion with col­leagues at HZDR and other HGF cen­ters in the pro­ject HiActs
  • Sci­entific col­lab­or­a­tion with lead­ing inter­na­tional groups in the field of accel­er­ator based com­pact neut­ron sources

Requirements:

  • PhD degree in phys­ics, mater­ial sci­ence or equi­val­ent
  • Exper­i­ence in one or sev­eral of the fol­low­ing areas: neut­ron phys­ics, ion beam phys­ics or mater­ial sci­ence
  • Prac­tical exper­i­ence with: accel­er­at­ors, neut­ron beams, radi­ation detect­ors or data acquis­i­tion and eval­u­ation
  • Very good team­work skills with abil­ity to col­lab­or­ate both with exper­i­ment­al­ists and the­or­ists
  • Excel­lent writ­ten and oral com­mu­nic­a­tion skills in Eng­lish
  • Read­i­ness to work in an inter­na­tional team
