Open Access consultant in the European context (m/f/d)

TIB, being part of the Leibniz Research Association, is with around 600 employees one of the largest technical information centres in Germany, having three main functions:

  1. Acting in the capacity of the Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology, our forward-looking services secure the infrastructural requirements for providing researchers in science and industry with high-quality information and literature.
  2. Carrying out cutting edge research to further expand TIB’s role as a German information centre for the digitisation of science and technology.
  3. Offer library services for the Leibniz University Hannover.

As the German National Library of Science and Technology our future-oriented services ensure the infrastructural requirements for a high-quality supply of information and literature for research in science and industry. Our services as a university library secure the local supply for the Leibniz University Hannover.

Aufgabenbeschreibung

The Technische Informationsbibliothek (TIB) – Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology – Program Area B, usage and information systems, is looking to employ an

Open Access consultant in the European context (m/f/d)

to work in our publishing services division at the next possible date.

The position is initially limited until 31.08.2027. The weekly working time is 27.86 hours (part-time). If the personal requirements are met, the remuneration will be based on pay scale group 13 TV-L.

Leibniz University Hannover is a member of the alliance "EULiST – European Universities Linking Society and Technology", which aims to manifest the European experience for all students and university members. Through its activities, the TIB supports the measures in study, research, and administration. Open access and other research-supporting approaches play a major role here. You will work closely together with two other Open Access consultants at publishing services.

Your tasks

  • Conception of activities for open access competence building in European networks of Leibniz University Hannover
  • Conception and implementation of teaching and training programmes, including
    o Seminars (online/on site) for students, teaching staff and researchers
    o Creation and adaptation of teaching materials for further training
    o Examination of the use of modern forms of teaching and learning
  • Development of workflows for researching open access content for university courses
  • Collaboration and coordination with Leibniz University Hannover and its European partners
  • Integration of research-supporting services into EULiST-Campus, including
    o Supporting the use of library services
    o Measures to support Europe-wide cooperation

Erwartete Qualifikationen

Your qualities

  • Completed academic university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of the open access and scientific landscape
  • Knowledge of research processes, e.g. by having worked in research projects either as researcher or research support staff or on a PhD thesis
  • Knowledge of scholarly publishing, e.g. by own publications or editorial work
  • Willingness to develop and implement your own concepts and ideas
  • Communication and cooperation skills
  • Very good knowledge of English, good knowledge of German
  • Interest in contributing to the internationalisation of higher education
  • Willingness to undertake occasional business trips to other European countries

Desirable

  • Experience in university teaching
  • Experience with the creation of teaching materials
  • Experience of organising training or teaching events (online / on site)
  • Experience with international project cooperation
  • Experience in teaching Open Access skills in a professional or extra-professional context
