Student Assistant (m/f/d) at LOTI
for up to 30 hours per month
Das Helmholtz-Zentrum für Infektionsforschung GmbH mit Sitz in Braunschweig untersucht die Mechanismen von Infektionskrankheiten und ihrer Abwehr. Dazu erforschen die Wissenschaftler_innen Viren und Bakterien wie etwa die Erreger von Malaria und Aids, Covid-19 und Hepatitis. Gleichzeitig analysieren die Forscher_innen die menschliche Immunabwehr und entwickeln neue Medikamente und Impfstoffe. Dafür setzt das Forschungszentrum mit seinen über 900 Mitarbeitenden unter anderem auf individualisierte Medizin und treibt die Erregersuche per KI voran.
Tasks
The Department of Viral Immunology / Laboratory of Transmission Immunology at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) is looking for a Student Assistant (m/f/d) for up to 30 hours per month.
You will be introduced to the processes in the Laboratory of Transmission Immunology at a renowned research institution and learn the basics of day-to-day virological and immunological work.
Your tasks:
You will support our department in day-to-day operations. In addition, you will help us with the preparation and realization of smaller projects:
- Accompanying quality control and immunohistochemistry for air-liquid interface (ALI) cultures
- Supporting cell culture for virological assays, mycoplasma testing, and virus sequencing
- Assistance in qRT-PCRs / digital droplet PCRs and flow cytometric data analyses
Requirements
- Enrolled student at a German university or university of applied sciences with a connection to the life sciences
- Interest in the field of virology and virus immunology and ideally first contact with sterile work, cell culture or PCR
- Confident handling of MS Office programs (especially Excel and Word)
- Independent and structured way of working
- Careful work is one of the basic requirements for this responsible task
- Organizational talent and good communication skills
