The Leibniz Junior Research Group Sustainable Nanomaterials of the Institute for Materials Chemistry at the IFW Dresden offers a PhD Candidate Position (m/f/div) to be filled on a fixed-term basis for 36 months. The position is to be filled on a part-time basis (67%).

The Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden e. V. (IFW Dresden) conducts modern materials research on a scientific basis for the development of new and sustainable materials and technologies. Tasks

Research in the field of reusability of nanomaterials and their electronic components within the frame-work of the Dresden Cluster of Excellence REC² – “Responsible Electronics in the Climate Change Era”

  • Chemical synthesis of functional, semiconducting nanomaterials
  • Processing of nanomaterials and fabrication of functional layers, heterostructures, and electronic devices, such as, for example, solar cells or photodetectors
  • With a particular focus on the reuse and recycling of the nanomaterials, with the development of suitable methods for the controlled assembly and disassembly o nanomaterials while pre-serving their properties
  • Spectroscopic, microscopic, structural, and electrical characterization of the nanomaterials, their layers, and fabricated devices

Requirements

  • completed degree in chemistry, physics, materials science (or a comparable field)
  • Ideally, experience in the synthesis and characterization of low-dimensional nanomaterials
  • Ideally, experience in electronic components, the reuse or recycling of functional materials
  • Interest and Motivation to conduct innovative research for a sustainable future and active par-ticipation in the Cluster of Excellence REC²
  • Good written and spoken English skills
  • High personal motivation to pursue a doctorate as a personal qualification within the frame-work of part-time employment

The contract of employment, including remuneration, is based on the collective bargaining law for the public service of the federal states, TV-L EG 13.
