Tasks

  • lead of the research group “small satellite rendezvous and robotics”
  • head of the rendezvous and docking laboratory
  • independent execution of classes in the bachelor’s and master's programs; this includes the organizational and administrational aspects as well as supervision and examinations
  • supervision of students in the context of student projects as well as final theses
  • coordination activities at the Department of Astronautics
  • acquisition and execution of third party-funded projects

Requirements

  • Successfully completed scientific university studies (Diplom, Master or equivalent) and PhD in the STEM field, is required; a degree in aerospace engineering is an advantage
  • knowledge of satellite technology, satellite subsystem design, spacecraft attitude control, and spacecraft mechanics
  • experience in Guidance, Navigation, and Control
  • experience in formation flight, rendezvous, and docking of spacecraft
  • the ability to teach in German and/or English is a prerequisite; willingness to acquire the missing language skills in each case

Desirable:

  • experience in the practical design and construction of experimental equipment as well as the conduction
  • experience in setting up and running a laboratory
  • familiarity with fundamentals of electronics engineering and experience with embedded programming
  • experience in supervising or contributing to student projects
