General Manager of ReSpace! Research Group (d/f/m)

ReSpace! – Connected Response-able Spaces and Infrastructures for Sustainable Living is a cutting-edge research group at TU Braunschweig dedicated to reimagining spatial futures under the impact of climate change. We advance excellence in interdisciplinary methods and transformative knowledge to reshape urban and rural spaces and infrastructures addressing resource constraints and societal transformation in the complex interplay of global and local impacts.

We are looking for a (d/f/m) personality eager to take on the position of General Manager for our research group ReSpace!. You are highly team-oriented, cooperative, excited to work in an inter- and transdisciplinary context, and ambitious not only with regard to your own goals but also the overall ambitions of the ReSpace! Research Group. The role requires initiative, responsibility, and a collegial attitude in navigating the team and our partners. The postdoctoral position of ReSpace! General Manager will be based at the Spatial Analytics and Crossdisciplinary Experimentation Lab, SpACE Lab at ISU – Institute for Sustainable Urbanism, TU Braunschweig. About ISU
With ISU, we offer a motivating setting for intellectual and professional development at one of Germany’s leading Institutes of Technology. ISU with its research unit SpACE Lab at ISU is a research-based think tank, design and planning lab headed by Prof. Dr. Vanessa Miriam Carlow. We are a team of around 30 researchers, lecturers and student assistants from different backgrounds, disciplines and career stages. The diversity of our ISU team enables us to take a multi-perspective, unconventional approach to research questions, teaching and knowledge transfer. We are intensively involved in the international discourse on sustainable urbanism. As part of the TU Braunschweig’s core research area FUTURE CITY, we work with scientists from a wide range of disciplines and cooperate with more than fifty cities and NGOs worldwide. Tasks

  • Coordinate in the implementation of ReSpace! in support of the project speaker
  • Ensure efficient project management: administration, quality assurance, reporting, etc.
  • Cooperate with TU Braunschweig’s Ecoversity and other institutional partners
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of a large interdisciplinary research project
  • Support public relations, and science communication, incl. maintaining the website
  • Coordinate and mentor PhD researchers in achieving their individual and collective goals
  • Manage collaborations with municipalities, NGOs, industry, and scientific institutions
  • Organize and curate project meetings, academic events, and international workshops
  • Coordinate the development of large-scale research proposals in support of the speaker
  • Pursue your own research agenda and publish at an international level

Requirements

  • You have a degree (Master’s or equivalent) and an excellent Ph.D. (or equivalent) in architecture, urbanism, or related disciplines – or proven expertise in scientific management, along research in areas relevant to ReSpace!
  • Capacities and skills to deeply engage in inter- and trans-disciplinary research
  • Strong communication skills, including science communication
  • Solid methodological expertise, research experience, and academic writing ability
  • Proven experience in acquiring third-party funding and developing project proposals
  • Independent and team-oriented, with strong coordination and organizational skills
  • Very good command of German and English
