Research Assistant
Part-time employment may be possible
Your responsibility
Project topic:
Design of compact liquid separators with integrated heat exchanger for environmentally friendly refrigerants and correlation of convective heat transfer coefficients in condensing heat exchangers.
Areas of responsibility:
Design calculations for compact liquid separators based on results of literature research. Research into different separation techniques through modeling and experimentation. Planning, construction, and commissioning of a test bench for the experimental investigation of different separator prototypes, with the aid of suitable visualization tools. Research and design of separators with integrated heat exchanger aimed at high liquid separation rates and efficiency. Creation of a suitable test matrix and scientific data analysis with the aim of correlating measurement data for heat transfer coefficients in the case of condensing heat exchangers.
Your profile
- Successfully completed university degree (Diploma, Master's or equivalent) in Energy and Process Engineering, Engineering Physics or Renewable Energy Systems or equivalent degrees.
- Very good knowledge of all the above-mentioned research and task areas.
- Excellent knowledge of the fundamentals and applications in the area of refrigeration and heat pump processes, preferably in conjunction with experience in the practical use of refrigeration and heat pump systems, e.g., electrically operated compression or absorption heat pumps.
- Knowledge of the properties of refrigerants and their effects on heat transfer processes is of crucial importance. In addition to experimental skills, extensive simulation skills are also expected.
- Ability to work in a team, sense of responsibility and reliability, resilience, and a goaloriented approach to experimental and numerical research are desirable.
- Good English and/or German language skills required; willingness to acquire any missing language skills.
- Relevant laboratory experience, experience in test bench setup and operation, experience in the design of refrigeration components, implementation of measurement systems and its digital recording, in particular visualization of twophase refrigerant flows are desirable.
- Experience in scientific analysis and correlation of experimental measurement data using self-developed numerical methods are desirable.
