Your responsibility

Participation in a research project on the electrochemical valorization of CO2 to formic acid and ethylene. The position also includes project coordination and presentation of project results to project partners.

Your profile

  • successfully completed scientific university degree (master's, diploma or equivalent) and doctorate in chemistry, chemical engineering or related fields with a focus on CO₂ refinement and scale-up

  • relevant experience is required:
    (i) in the building, spectroscopic and chromatographic characterization of CO2 gas diffusion electrodes and cells under extended test times (> 100 h) on the low kW scale,
    (ii) in the operation, analysis, and kinetic and stability characterization of zero-gap CO2 electrolyzer cells and stacks as well as their components such as in solid electrolytes

  • strong experimental skills in CO2 electrolysis and upgrading to Formic acid in solid electrolytes

  • experience with CO2 cell scaling and the electrochemical 5 electrode testing technique

  • strong scientific writing skills with a track record of publications

  • good knowledge of German and/or English required; willingness to acquire the respective missing language skills

  • independent scientific working style (is desirable)

  • knowledge of electrochemical reactor engineering and scale-up (is desirable)

  • very good teamwork skills, especially with regard to supervising students (is desirable)

  • experience in project acquisition (is desirable)
