Research Assistant

part-time employment may be possible

Technische Universität Berlin

Your responsibility

The research topic lies within the interdisciplinary field of biotechnologically produced, fungal-based biomaterials, which are to be optimised in terms of their material properties. The research is embedded in the Collaborative Research Centre 1743 'MY-CO BUILD: Biomanufacturing, characterisation, and sustainability assessment of fungal-based building materials' and shall develop a toolbox for synthetic biology. This toolbox will include a series of promoters, introns and terminators, which will be tested for applicability and dynamic ranges using reporter assays. The candidate will collaborate closely with SFB project partners to investigate genetic methods for modifying biomaterial properties, and to develop and apply multi-omics approaches.

Your profile

  • Successfully completed scientific university degree (diploma, master's or equivalent) in the field of biotechnology, biochemistry or comparable with a focus on microbiology or molecular biology
  • Good command of German and/or English required; willingness to learn either English or German is expected
  • Initial experience in genetic engineering work with microorganisms in the laboratory
  • Experience in working with fungi or in the production and testing of biomaterials is desired
  • Experience in bioinformatic or systems biology analysis (at DNA, RNA, protein, or metabolite level) is desired
