Tasks

The Juniorprofessorship for Regional & Urban Economics at the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics invites applications for the following position to be filled from 01.10.2026:

(up to pay grade TV-L 13 (75% full-time equivalent; 30 hours per week)

The appointment is fixed-term until 30.09.2029. An extension is intended, subject to applicable
legal regulations and the availability of funding
Your responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate on the DFG-funded research project "From Military to Market: The Economic
    Impact of Large Housing Supply Shocks"
  • Undertake independent academic research with the aim of completing a PhD
  • Contribute to the teaching activities of the Junior Professorship with an average teaching
    load of one contact hour per week during the semester
  • Contribute to the broader research activities of the Junior Professorship and participate in
    academic self-governance
  • Participate in academic conferences, workshops, and other professional development activities as part of your academic development

Requirements

  • An above-average Master's degree (or equivalent) in Economics or a closely related field.
    Applicants who have not yet completed their degree may also apply, provided they can
    submit a current transcript of records or provisional examination results at the time of ap
    plication
  • A strong interest in doctoral research in Regional and Urban Economics and the research
    areas of the Junior Professorship
  • Very good knowledge of empirical and econometric methods, or a strong willingness to
    further develop these skills during the PhD. Experience with structural estimation methods
    and/or quantitative (spatial) general equilibrium models is an asset
  • Proficiency in statistical software such as Stata, R, or Python
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills (minimum C1 CEFR). English proficiency should
    ideally be demonstrated through academic work completed in English or equivalent evi
    dence. Knowledge of German is desirable but not required
  • The ability to work independently, carefully, and with a high level of commitment, as well as the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
